Get Away Weekend!!

Over the weekend, Seth and I celebrated our first anniversary :-) I know it’s a little bit early but the project that Seth has been managing at work for the past six months is going live next weekend, so we decided to celebrate the weekend before. Anyways, our celebration started Friday morning when Seth told me to pack my things, we’re going somewhere for the weekend but it’s a surprise. I knew we were going to celebrate our anniversary that weekend but had no idea that we would be going anywhere.

Later that afternoon, we arrived to our destination which was the Four Season’s Hotel in downtown Houston. Since we have been busy every weekend for the past couple months, he wanted to get away and just have a nice relaxing weekend which was definitely needed. Once, we got our room and unloaded, we decided to take a walk downtown; it’s sad that I have lived in Houston all my life and I’ve probably been downtown less than a handful of times. It has definitely come along way though and is actually pretty nice now. After scoping out the places around our hotel, we went and ate at an awesome seafood restaurant called Massa’s and then headed back to our hotel room for some champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and to watch ‘The Proposal, which I definitely recommend if you haven’t seen it.

Saturday, Seth had plans for us to go to the zoo which I was very excited about because I had been wanting to go for a very long time. The weather was absolutely beautiful and a perfect day to go to the zoo but I think everyone else in Houston had the same idea as us lol. Not only was it beautiful outside but it was boo at the zoo so there were millions of people. Nonetheless, it turned out to be a great time. Our favorite part was the meerkats; we both want to get one for a pet ha-ha. Here are a couple of pictures we took.

Later that night, Seth and I went to the Flying Saucer to get dinner and drinks and then we headed to my favorite bar ever, Pete’s Piano Bar. They just opened one up in Houston and it was only two blocks away from our hotel so of course we had to make an appearance. It was a little bit different crowd then what we were used to but it turned out to be the best people watching ever. I tried to take a video of this man who was dancing/singing away and just having the time of his life but it didn’t come out very well. Let’s just say for those of you who know what I’m talking about, this was way better than the Jessie’s Girl dancer ha-ha. Anyways, I could probably go to Pete’s every night and never get tired of it, it is so entertaining.

Sunday had come way to fast but we still had a busy day planned. For my anniversary gift to Seth, I got him tickets to the Houston Dynamo vs. Los Angeles Galaxy soccer game. The game started at two so we thought leaving at 1:15 would give us plenty of time to get there and to our seats but we were definitely wrong. I was thinking we would park and walk right into the game but the Houston Dynamo is way more popular than I thought it would be ha-ha. Needless to say, we ended up missing kick off but even though we did, the game was still a lot of fun. Of course, it did help a little that Beckham was playing ha-ha. The game ended up being a no scoring game but will definitely be something that we would go to again. All in all, this was such a great weekend and a great first anniversary. I can’t believe that it’s almost been a year since we have been married but it has been the best year of my life and I can’t wait for the many more to come. I love you babe :-) Some pictures from the game.

Grilled Pizza

The other night I somehow landed on the Jon & Kate + 8 show which I used to love but they just annoy me now. Anyways, on the show Jon was grilling pizza for the kids and looked like a lot of fun so I decided that I wanted to try it out. So, yesterday after work I went to the store, got all of the ingredients and came home to start it up. I was a little nervous about lighting the grill since the last time I tried I about burned all my eye lashes and hair off but I managed to get it lit and actually the pizza turned out really good if I say so myself haha. It was as Seth would say, "a tasty treat." And the best part was that it was so easy and painless. Some pics below of my creation :-) Yummy

Kema Boardwalk!!

Yesterday was Les 50th birthday, Happy Birthday Old Man :-) We all wanted to do something a little different than the normal birthday dinner and Amy came up with the idea of going to the Kema Boardwalk. I had never been before and it had been a long time since everyone else had been so we decided to celebrate his birthday down at the boardwalk.

We got there around 5:30, walked around for about an hour and then headed over to the Aquarium for dinner. Besides the couple mess ups from our lovely waiter, dinner turned out to be really nice. It was a good time with the family.

After we stuffed ourselves at the Aquarium we headed back outside to ride the choo choo train as the girls were saying. They had wanted to ride since they got to Kema, so we got tickets and stood in line for quite a while if I must say. We really didn’t think it would be that long but they only had one train going. After about an hour of sweating to death, it was finally our turn but it was well worth it just to see the smile on the girls face and how excited they were to be on the choo choo; it was priceless.

Once we got off the train, Amy, Erika and I wanted to ride the boardwalk bullet but the line was way too long and we were all exhausted so we decided to head home. So, all in all it turned out to be a great night and we hope Les that you had a great 50th birthday; we love you. Below are some pictures of the night. I actually brought my camera and insisted on taking photos for my blog :-) Enjoy!!

I don't know if you can tell, but that is like hundreds of catfish waiting to be fed. It was crazy how many there were just waiting to get a piece of food.

The girls loved all the fish

This fish was HUGE

Third Times A Charm, Right ?!?!?

Ummm yeah, no. A couple weeks ago Seth and I bought a dining room set from Roomstore. We had been looking for a while and finally found one we really liked and that would go perfect in our dining room. So Seth took off the day they were going to deliver it for them to bring us a hutch that had a wire cut so you couldnt turn on the light and then one leaf for the table when it was suppose to come with two. I thought well you know stuff happens and surely they wont screw it up for a second time. The next time I had my dad go to our house and wait for them to deliver the hutch because its hard for Seth and I to take off work all the time. Anyways so Les waited for them to come and when they finally came, the hutch was all scrached and dented. He didnt know what to do so he kept it for me to look at and see if I thought it was acceptable before he sent that one back. So I got home from work looked at it and at first I was going to just keep it and be done with it but then I got to thinking. I didnt just pay all that money for them to bring me a damage piece of furniture that I am going to have to accept and live with. I called Roomstore the next morning, told them to bring me a new one and scheduled a new delivery for the next week. Well the delivery was yesterday, and on my way home from work I get a text from Les saying "I sent the new one back, it's damaged."

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!! How can you deliver something damaged three times. It just blows my mind. So needless to say they got an ear full from Seth and then I called to talk to a manager who has yet to call me back. If they dont call me back by 4 then they will see my bright and shining face when I go to the store this afternoon. But Seth told told the lady if they waste our time and money for a fourth time that there truck better be big enough for them to take all the furniture out of our house so that we can go to another furniture store. Haha so there is my vent for the day. I guess we will see what happens. SOOO frustrating lol.

Wedding Shower in Sherman

Over the weekend Seth, Max, Dulce & I heading up to Sherman, TX for his best friend John & Lizzies wedding shower. We left Friday around noon and got to Seth's parents house around 5:30, unloaded the truck and then went to eat some yummy mexican food. After dinner, we went back to the house and were just in time to watch Urban Cowboy. I was glad that I finally got to see this movie so now I don't have to hear, WHAT you've never seen Urban Cowboy, thats the best movie ever :-) Besides all the dang commercials, it was a pretty good movie. "Sissy get me a beer," was the saying of the weekend after that haha.

Anyways Saturday we pretty much lounged around until the wedding shower that afternoon. I got to watch another classic movie (Road House) that everyone thought I was crazy for not having seen either. So I got two never seen classic movies checked off my list this weekend. Seth says the next on my list is the Goonies.

We left for the shower around 5 o'clock that afternoon to go and help get everything set up. We had some burgers, beer and got to catch up with all of Seth's friends from highschool. We had a lot of fun and it was so good to see everyone, it was sooooo HOT though. By the end of the night everyone was swimming in the pool. But all in all everything turned out great and we are so happy for John & Lizzie, we wish them both the best and can't wait for the wedding. It is going to be so much fun. Below are some pictures from the shower.

HAHA weren't those some good pictures. I'm sad to say that was the only picture taken all night. LOL I need to work on the picture taking.

I've Been Slacking...Oppsy

So its been way to long since I have blogged but we have been busy bee's since we decided to do a theater room. We have been working on it every night since last Monday and I would say we are about 85 percent done already. Its amazing how fast you can get a project done if you really put your mind to it. The only things we have left to do is mount the speakers and touch up some of the walls.

Last week the major part was getting the room painted which isnt all that easy when you use a really dark paint. But Seth finished it up over the weekend while I was in Fort Worth for Jen's bachelorette party. Then Sunday, when I got home I helped, haha ok maybe supervised while he hung the projector up. And yesterday we hung the screen. I thought this would take us months to get done, kind of like our painting the house project that we have yet to finish but we have made a lot of progress and will hopefully be done by the beginning of next week so we can watch a movie, YAY fun. Well that's all the update on the theater room for now but here are a couple of pics of our progess.

Theater Room...

Well my man came home today from being out of town, thank goodness I really missed him. But anyways last week we decided that were going to make the room upstairs a theater room. I found the paint color and Handy man Seth built out the frame for our screen. Then, tonight we wrapped the frame with a black velvet material. Once the paper gets in he will staple it to the back and then we will have our screen, YAY fun. Still have a ways to go but it will be very rewarding once we are done. Here are a couple of pics of the frame. I will post more pictures as we progress.
